We therefore need to dry the roses before that happens. Ideally, start within five days of receiving your flowers, so they retain as much of their fresh shape as possible.
Undo the bouquet and carefully remove the roses without damaging their leaves. Cut the ties holding the flowers together and gently open the bouquet with your hands. Once separated, hang the roses upside down by the ends of their stems, using clips or string. Choose a dry place with little light.
After a few days, your roses will be dry and ready for their new, everlasting life.
The second method is for preserving just the rose petals. Carefully detach each petal from the base of the flower bud to avoid tearing it. You do not need to take the bouquet apart, but the timing is the same as for the first method: around five days after receiving the flowers.
Place the petals between the pages of a book with absorbent paper, rather than a glossy school textbook. Spread them across different pages. Intact petals should not stain the paper, but choose a book that is not especially precious to you, just in case.
After a few days, your petals will be dry, flat and ready to preserve that memory.
